Duke Energy Rates Deep Dive

November Meeting

Join us on November 15 for a virtual meeting with a deep dive into Duke Energy Rates from an energy engineers perspective.

Being able to correctly apply applicable electricity costs to energy conservation measures (ECMs) is critical in accurately estimating annual cost savings. For an energy engineer to do this requires a basic  understanding of the various electric rates that may apply to a particular Commercial or Industrial customer. There are typically several different rate schedules available to any one customer. These rates have various components that make up the electric bill and not all of them should be used for savings calculations. Simply dividing the electricity cost by the total electricity consumed through the meter will provide an average $/kWh that could be used; however, the energy engineer may be underestimating or overestimating the ECM savings. This session will review both Duke Energy Progress and Duke Energy Carolinas rates applicable to Commercial and Industrial customers, their respective cost components and their application to various ECMs
