Join us on February 23rd at 5:30 pm with Ken Dulaney for a presentation and tour of the FREEDM Systems Center at North Carolina State University
Modern day human life is increasingly dependent on electronic devices. However, the electric grid that supplies electricity to power and charge these devices has remained nearly the same for several decades. The Future Renewable Electric Energy Delivery and Management (FREEDM) Systems Engineering Research Center was established in 2008 by the National Science Foundation to the lead effort in developing a modern power grid that is more secure, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. Research priorities of the center include:
- Power electronics packaging
- Controls theory
- Solid state transformers
- Fault isolation devices
- Power systems simulation and demonstration
This presentation and tour will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about and explore the FREEDM Center’s state of the art research facilities with added discussion on how this research can increase the effectiveness of energy usage in the US. We look forward to seeing you at our February meeting of 2017 at 5:30 pm for pizza and the presentation and tour of the FREEDM Systems Center at North Carolina State University starting at 6:00 pm.
