Wake County Landfill Gas-to-Energy Tour (April 26, 2016)

April Meeting

Join us on April 26th for a tour of Wake County’s Landfill Gas-to-Energy Facility

Join us for an inside look at Wake County’s landfill gas-to-energy facility in southern Wake county. The gas is collected from wells in the landfill, cleaned and filtered, and then burned in six, 20-cylinder combustion engines. The facility is currently generating 4MW of continuous power with the possibility of generating upwards of 10-12MW in the future. The project was completed in 2013. Space is extremely limited (once at the facility, a bus will take the group inside), so RSVP is required and is on a first-come-first-serve basis. To tour the facility, a wavier must be completed. The waiver can be found here; please complete the wavier and bring with you to the tour. The tour will start at 5:30, so be sure to arrive prior to then.
