Wake Tech LEED Campus (May 22, 2018)

May Meeting

Join us on Tuesday May 22nd at the North Wake Tech Campus, the only US College Campus where all buildings are LEED® Certified

The Northern Wake Campus of Wake Technical Community College has the distinction of being the first college or university campus in the U.S. where all buildings are LEED®-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the U.S. Green Building Council. Buildings and grounds are designed to conserve energy, with daylight harvesting, drought-resistant landscaping and other features such as State-of-the-art technology, including “smart” classrooms that provide instant access to instructional resources, a 300-seat lecture and performance hall, and laboratories for nursing assistant instruction. Wake Tech also utilizes a third party utility bill management service which has helped identify thousands of dollars in billing and rate savings. Meet with John Majernik, Director of Energy, Sustainability and Transportation and tour some of the facilities at the North Campus, one of 10 locations for Wake Tech.
