What will be your role?

The Outside Sales Engineer (OSE) role will be responsible to lead the company’s efforts to expand new customer relationships and maintain existing customer base within the markets that you will represent. You will have the strategic function of developing sales in a given geographic area and associated Vertical Markets within that area. To build business, you will forge special relationships with the Company’s existing customers that will be assigned to you as well as building relationships with new customers. You will establish strategic partnerships and always seek to build the customer loyalty towards the organization. The OSE wins, maintains, and expands relationships within the assigned markets. Through customers based on geography and market, the OSE is responsible for achieving sales, profitability, and customer recruitment objectives. You will represent the entire range of company offerings and services to assigned customers though may focus on a specific solution set that fits best for a certain vertical market. The OSE reports directly to the Business Development Manager (BDM).

 

What will you do?

  • Identify and develop relationships with Consulting Engineering firms, general and mechanical Contractors, end-users and existing customers in the assigned area and establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel in new market accounts. (Clients)
  • Work with assigned market customers to understand their needs for Energy Management and Building Management Systems and look for ways to provide to them solutions for their needs. Work with the Client to understand their upcoming needs for projects and renovations and where CMS Controls can provide the solution that is needed.
  • Work within the assigned markets to grow the business interests of CMS Controls by attending association meetings and conferences, making introductions with key personnel.
  • Work with Consulting Engineers to stay up-to-date on upcoming projects that they are working on and help support them where needed and when mutually beneficial.
  • Work with both mechanical and general contractors to build relationships when mutually beneficial and to help with any upcoming plan and spec projects. Help them to develop or modify budgets and provide the customer that they are working with an end product that meets all of the goals of the project plans and specs.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned Client markets.
  • Proactively works with the BDM in the business forecasting process to track leads, opportunities and critical milestones associated with the market relationships that have been built. Update the CRM and other internal tracking tools to keep track of the opportunities built and assigned.
  • Proactively work with the BDM to review the pricing and scopes for the plan and spec projects prior to bid date.
  • Work with in-house energy engineers to develop Return on Investment (ROI) and Utility Rebate Strategies for customers where applicable.
  • Review and become very knowledgeable with the plans and specifications provided for projects and markets assigned to provide to the
  • Client accurate pricing and scope for the project implementation.
  • Provide to the CMS Controls Operations Team a full understanding of project specific provisions thru a detailed turn over process once the project sale is made.
  • Proactively assess, clarify, and validate Client needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Promote CMS Controls in the markets assigned, including working with Consulting Engineers to have CMS Controls products lines specified on projects.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of leads and opportunities utilizing the CRM (Salesforce).

  • Accurately and regularly keep track of market trends and adjustments that may need to be made within the Organization to meet those adjustments
  • Maintain all necessary CRM updates and funnel updates for use by the DSM and General Manager

Which candidate profile are we looking for?

  • Four years University or College degree from an accredited institution or equivalent in working years.
  • Minimum of 3 years of HVAC and/or Building Automation System direct to customer sales/estimating experience in a business-to-business environment.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, balance and prioritize multiple customers, projects and vendors at any given time as required to meet internal and external customer demands.
  • Personal computer proficiency and excels in MS Office Applications.
  • Efficient at reading and understanding plans and specifications including providing take-offs of controls and associated equipment utilizing an
  • Excel or Web Based tool sets.
  • Extensive experience and capability to speak “up and down” the construction cycle (owners, engineering firms, mechanical contractors, general contractors, etc.)

 

Job Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • This position requires some travel. The employee must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • The employee shall hold a valid passport.
  • This position requires the employee to work in the office as necessary to estimate and propose projects and work along with the Sales Team and Operations. Work outside of the office will be done as needed for meetings with Clients.
